Job Description
This role is being advertised by Brightwork Ltd and we require a Weekend Cafe Manager for our client's busy cafe in the EH5 area of Edinburgh.
Your Time at WorkHours of work: Saturday and Sunday, 09:30-16:30.
Main Duties and Responsibilities On-site and Bought-in Goods- Maintain effective day-to-day organisation of goods by restocking from kitchen stores or gift shop supplies.
- Flag when re-ordering is required; check off deliveries, price-label stock, ware housing stock, and order food stock.
- Keep stock levels appropriate and monitor stock turnover.
- Liaise with the kitchen and café manager as required.
- Prepare the rota for the shop to ensure adequate coverage and manage any changes.
- Liaise with other hospice teams (Finance, Stewards, Fundraising, Domestics) to support effective running.
- Serve customers and maintain the café's cleanliness and tidiness.
- Organise the monthly rota, filling and keeping it updated when call-offs occur.
- Train and motivate volunteers to carry out the relevant role, ensuring good food hygiene practices are adhered to.
- Minimise controllable costs and shrinkage at all times.
- Ensure operational systems and procedures are adhered to and carried out efficiently.
- Maintain health and safety standards and keep all areas of the premises clean and tidy.
- Handle general administration using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Order food goods as required and support sales of all products in the café and shop.

Our Perfect Worker- Educated to Standard Grade (or equivalent) in English and Maths or able to demonstrate competence in these areas.
- Food handling experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and database packages.
- Retail background, minimum 1 year's experience.
- Ability to manage and plan rotas.
- Experience working in office-based support roles dealing with a variety of tasks.
- Flexibility in working pattern to ensure café is always staffed.
- Experience of working with distressed customers.
- Good organisation and prioritising skills.
- Good interpersonal customer service skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience in stock management, pricing stock and food, merchandising, and displaying stock and food.
- Experience dealing with cash and card payments.
- Ability to solve problems and deal with queries, keeping payment details secure and confidential.
- Excellent time management skills; ability to prioritise workload and frequently work on several tasks at once.
£21.39 per hour for Saturday and Sunday.
