Senior Web Scraping Engineer

£50,000-£70,000. Fully Remote (Quarterly London Travel)

Are you an expert-level scraper who understands Google at scale better than most people understand their morning coffee? We're hiring a Senior Web Scraping Engineer to build, optimise, and scale our high-volume data acquisition systems - with a core focus on Google scraping, bot detection evasion, and high-performance infrastructure.

This is a brand-new role with huge influence and autonomy.

Why This Role Matters

We operate at serious scale think 10+ million Google requests per day and we need someone who's been in the trenches of distributed scraping, anti-bot avoidance, and fingerprinting.
If you've only done general-purpose web scraping, this role will not be a fit.
We're looking for a genuine specialist.

What You'll Be Doing

• Designing and scaling large-volume Google scraping pipelines
• Implementing advanced strategies for:
  • Bot detection avoidance
  • Fingerprinting and browser emulation
  • Anti-bot system navigation
  • Captcha detection & solving
• Building resilient, automated scraping systems using Python or Java
• Ensuring reliability and efficiency across millions of daily requests
• Working cross-functionally to understand data needs and deliver clean, structured output

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

• Expert-level scraping with Python or Java
• Direct experience scraping Google at scale
• Proven background in:
  • Anti-bot systems
  • Fingerprinting
  • Captcha handling
  • Distributed scraping architecture
  • High-volume request handling (10M+ per day)

Key Competency

• Deep understanding of bot detection and how to defeat it

Soft Skills

• Excellent communicator
• Clear documentation skills
• Ability to explain complex technical decisions simply

Role Details

• Salary: £50k-£70k
• Location: 100% remote (UK-based), with travel to London once every 3 months
• Interview Process: Maximum of two stages, often completed on the same day
• Technical Test: May be included as part of interview
• Start Date: This is a brand-new role with immediate impact
