Web GIS Developer

Our client is part of the United Nations and they are looking for a Web GIS Developer for a 90 day project (December-May 2026), with possible extension

Duties and Responsibilities

• Review current GIS infrastructure and database structure (raster and vector).
• Understand project requirements for web portal development.
• Advise on the final technology stack and environment setup (staging and production).
• Recommend data structures based on the designed pipeline.
• Develop the Front End Web GIS portal.
• Review and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
• Provide technical documentation.
• Perform other GIS-related tasks as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Web GIS development (include at least two reference projects using FOSS4G technologies).
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Geoserver, Geonode, GDAL.
• Experience with Front End GIS libraries (eg, Mapbox GL, OpenLayers, Leaflet, Kepler.gl).
• Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks (Angular, React, Vue).
• Familiarity with OGC-compliant web services (WMS, WMTS, WFS, CSW), Mapbox vector tiles, STACs.
• Knowledge of responsive frameworks (Bootstrap).
• Basic understanding of satellite imagery frameworks (eg, Google Earth Engine).
• Basic knowledge of containerized infrastructure (Kubernetes).
• Ability to produce technical documentation.

Language:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
