Job Title: Water Resources Specialist Salary: To £39,000 depending on experience Location: Walsall/ Cambridge Travel: Some travel required across both regions
South Staffs Water is seeking a Water Resources Specialist to support the development of statutory water resource plans. The role involves working with internal teams and external stakeholders to produce technically accurate, regulator-compliant documents that contribute to effective and sustainable water resource management across the regions.

South Staffs Water is seeking a Water Resources Specialist to support the development of statutory water resource plans. The Role:
Key Responsibilities
- Support the water resources functions of the business across both regions
- Produce statutory documents including Water Resources Management Plans, Drought Plans, and Annual Reviews
- Ensure delivery of environmentally sustainable water resources in line with regulatory guidance
- Take ownership of technical supporting elements for statutory plans
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure compliant and successful plan delivery
- Work across diverse and challenging subject areas within water resource planning
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards and ethical practices
- Lead technical contributions to water resource planning, including scenario modelling and sustainable abstraction strategies
- Produce clear, regulator-compliant documentation and reports
Skills & Experience
- Strong communicator with confidence in technical and stakeholder settings
- Self-driven and capable of working independently
- Skilled in managing relationships with regulators and cross-functional teams
- Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret and convey complex data
- Proactive and adaptable in both solo and team environments
- Familiarity with water industry operations and drought planning
- Understanding of water resource systems and environmental legislation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) - Essential
- Full UK driving licence - Essential
- EUSR certification - Advantageous
- 3+ years' experience in water resources or water company role - Advantageous
- Experience with Aquator modelling - Advantageous
