Waste Team Leader Driver (Ops 2)

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Refuse Driver Team Leader to join our Waste and Recycling team. This is a key frontline supervisory role, responsible for leading collection crews to deliver a safe, efficient and high-quality service to residents.
You will lead by example, ensuring all collection rounds are completed in line with operational policies, health and safety standards, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise a team of refuse loaders and drivers on daily collection rounds
- Drive and operate refuse collection vehicles safely and in line with legislation
- Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, including safe systems of work and use of equipment (e.g. Terberg lifts)
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly
- Manage in-cab operations, route completion and service delivery issues
- Act as the first point of contact for operational issues, resolving them effectively on the ground
- Promote a positive team culture, maintaining high standards of attendance, behaviour and performance
- Ensure excellent customer service when interacting with residents
- You are a reliable and proactive individual with strong leadership skills and operational experience in waste collection or a similar environment.
- You take pride in delivering a high-quality frontline service.

- Valid HGV Licence (Category C)
- CPC qualification and digital tachograph card
- Experience working in a waste collection or similar frontline service
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast paced environment
- Previous supervisory or team leader experience
- Knowledge of local authority waste services
- Experience using in cab technology and route management systems

- Additional Information
This role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and requires a high level of physical fitness. Early starts are required in line with operational needs.
Working hours will be Tuesday to Friday, 06:45 to 16:30 - You will be required to work mandatory catch-up days following bank holidays or periods of service disruption (e.g. inclement weather).
