To manage the day to day activities of St Marys Warehouse in a safe and friendly environment and to be accountable for maximising sales and profitability, you will recruit, train and manage all warehouse volunteers, drivers and driver mates. You will act as an ambassador for the organisation, maintaining positive communication with staff, volunteers, customers and donors.
Main DutiesWe offer a unique opportunity to join our retail team as a Furniture Warehouse Manager in Barrow. You will oversee the management of donated items, working closely with staff and volunteers to generate income for St Marys Hospice.
Job Responsibilities- Manage the day to day operations of the warehouse, ensuring a safe and friendly environment.
- Recruit, train and supervise volunteers, drivers and driver mates.
- Maximise sales and profitability by efficiently handling donated furniture and other items.
- Represent the Hospice in all interactions, upholding our values of caring, aspiration, professionalism and sustainability.
- Prioritise tasks in a fast paced environment, maintaining clear communication with staff and the public.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all warehouse activities.
- Provide regular reports on sales, inventory and volunteer performance to senior management.
- Promote a positive and organised work culture, encouraging teamwork and operational excellence.
- Local knowledge of the Barrow area and general wisdom relevant to the role.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to maintain attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working with volunteers, staff and the public.
- Passion for the Hospice's mission and values.
- Experience managing staff and volunteers is desirable.
32 hours per week (job share) over the equivalent of 4 days, including occasional Saturday work on a rota basis. Pay is £16.41 per hour.
