Job Description
Ward Clerk

Cranford ward is recruiting a full time ward clerk to work in their busy fast paced Acute medical unit.

Hours will be between 08:00-16:00 across Monday to Friday.

You will be a team player but should have the confidence to work on your own initiative, a flexible approach to tasks in a busy changing environment, and demonstrate competence in using IT systems, excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as you will be the front line for the patient and relatives.

Main duties of the job
  • Maintain the patient records/notes using our Careflow system.
  • Ensure patient demographics are correct and up to date.
  • Complete patient ward notes and update the administration section to support patient information throughout the trust.
  • Use effective communication skills to answer the telephone according to the agreed standard and provide appropriate information as required.
  • Photocopy/scan documents as required.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality at all times in line with the Trust policy.
  • Assist in the induction and development of others by demonstrating own duties.
Person Specification Qualifications
  • NVQ level 2 qualification in administration or equivalent hospital experience.
  • Good standard of education to include Maths and English.
Knowledge/Experience
  • Knowledge of data entry and proficient keyboard skills.
  • Knowledge of admin procedures.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality.
  • Previous experience of working in a hospital environment.
Skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office - photocopy, printing.
  • Experience of self management, organising own time and daily tasks.
  • Experience of dealing with difficult situations.
Personal
  • Working as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Use own initiative.
