Job Description
Overview

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role

No Band 2 roles are eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa or Health and Care Worker visa routes. For Band 3 roles, only posts of 32 hours per week or more may meet eligibility. NHSGGC cannot provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for roles that do not meet these criteria, and applications requiring sponsorship will not be considered.

To support effective clinical care by providing an efficient Health Records service to patients in a ward environment. To ensure patient's health records are administered and processed accurately and remain confidential.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
  • Please note this is a GGC wide post and can be moved to any location; however, the initial base will be Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
  • The shift pattern for this post is Thursday 08:00 to 16:00/16:30 and Saturday 08:00 to 13:00
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours
Key responsibilities

The post holder will provide cover in multiple wards as and when required. The post holder will be expected to undertake all duties such as reception of patients, answering telephone, appointment booking and maintaining demographic information on the patient management system.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
  • It is essential that the candidate has previous clerical/reception experience along with experience of working with the general public in a customer service environment
  • Good organisational, keyboard and communication skills are essential along with being proficient in the use of computer systems

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
