Job Description

An exciting permanent position has become available within the Plastic Surgery Department, working on gates 28 and 28C.

It is a full time role where you will work as a Ward and Assessment Unit Clerk, liaising with visitors, patients and staff, providing an efficient administration service and ensuring patient flow is coordinated.

The department has a positive, enthusiastic and dynamic group of staff who need a like minded individual to join the team.

Main duties of the job
  • Communicate with visitors, patients, nursing and medical staff to help ward staff ensure patient care is coordinated safely and effectively
  • Ensure telephone calls and front desk enquiries are handled appropriately and communication is effective between all concerned
  • Ensure all medical notes are collected, collated, sourced and filed appropriately, including scanning of all assessment unit notes onto PPM
  • Ensure the stock levels are managed and supplies are ordered in a timely manner
  • Ensure patient flow is coordinated within the ward area
  • Ensure all relevant follow up appointments are made for all specialities
  • Ensure Trust values and behaviours are adhered to at all times

Qualifications
  • Good general education to include CSE or GCSE in English Language and Maths or equivalent/experience
Experience
  • Experience of working with filing systems
  • Experience of good customer or patient care
  • Experience working with IT systems
  • Previous experience in an administration role within a healthcare setting
  • A willingness to learn NHS computer software systems

  • Proven record of excellent filing and organisational skills
