Job Description
Role

As a Volunteering Support Officer, you'll play a key role in championing volunteering across the borough. Working within Rochdale's volunteering team, you'll deliver a high-quality, person centred service to individuals exploring volunteering and to volunteer managers across the VCFSE sector. You'll support people through every step of their volunteering journey by responding to enquiries, delivering 1:1 guidance, and matching volunteers to meaningful opportunities. You will also help promote volunteering through outreach events, campaigns, and community hubs, focusing on improving access and engagement for underrepresented groups, and work closely with partners to support volunteering projects, maintain accurate records and impact data, and contribute to a professional, collaborative, and responsive volunteering service.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to enquiries and deliver personalised 1:1 guidance to individuals and volunteer managers.
  • Match volunteers to suitable opportunities and support them throughout their volunteering journey.
  • Promote volunteering through outreach events, campaigns, and community hubs.
  • Assist partners and colleagues in supporting volunteering projects, maintaining accurate records and impact data.
  • Deliver outreach and community based activity across Rochdale as required.
Qualifications
  • Experience working with volunteers and supporting people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Good understanding of the VCFSE sector and volunteer best practice.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build positive, trusting relationships with individuals, community groups and partner organisations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing workload, using initiative and prioritising effectively.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel) and maintaining accurate records for monitoring and reporting.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across Rochdale for outreach and community activity.
