Volunteer Equine Egg Counting Assistant (Based at Rolleston Rehoming Centre)

Blue Cross operates two Horse Adoption Centres located in Burford and Rolleston on Dove. Volunteers are at the heart of our work, enabling us to find new homes for horses and ponies who have been made homeless.

We're looking for volunteers who are passionate about horse health to help with faecal egg counting (FEC), a simple but essential process used to monitor internal parasite levels in horses in our care. If you're interested in learning more about equine care, join our team as a Volunteer Egg Counting Assistant and play a vital role in keeping horses happy and healthy!

Why we want you

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help with faecal egg counting (FEC) - a simple but essential process used to monitor internal parasite levels in horses in our care.

We would love you to join us and help us help more pets in need.

What you will be doing
  • Assisting with laboratory egg counting procedures (training provided!)
  • Recording and organising results
  • Supporting our equine care team with general yard duties if desired
The skills you need
  • Have an interest in horses or animal health
  • Reliable, detail oriented, and willing to learn
  • Can commit to agreed volunteer sessions
