Job Description

We're recruiting a Voice and Influence Coordinator, as part of the Age Friendly Salford programme, which is a VCSE partnership, led by Inspiring Communities Together and Salford CVS and Volunteer Centre Salford.

The programme offers a comprehensive range of activities and support services aimed at enhancing the quality of life for older residents. It focuses on keeping older people informed, safe, engaged, and respected within their communities.

The postholder will work closely with colleagues across the Age Friendly Salford partnership, support volunteers and ensure high-quality delivery that reflects local need.

Summary of Role
The postholder will work as part of the Age Friendly Salford programme, which is a VCSE partnership, led by Inspiring Communities Together and supported by Age UK Salford and Trafford and Salford CVS. The programme offers a comprehensive range of activities and support services aimed at enhancing the quality of life for older residents.

It focuses on keeping older people informed, safe, engaged, and respected within their communities. The postholder will work closely with colleagues across the Age Friendly Salford partnership, support volunteers and ensure high-quality delivery that reflects local need.

The Voice and Influence role ensures that older people are actively involved in shaping decisions, services and priorities across Salford. The role leads on embedding co-production, capturing lived experience and strengthening the voices of older residents, particularly those less often heard, to influence policy, service design and strategic decision-making across the city, through focus group sessions, consultation and the Salford Older People's Network events. The postholder will work collaboratively with partners and communities to challenge ageism, promote positive ageing, and ensure Age Friendly principles are reflected in practice.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with older people to understand their experiences, views and priorities.
  • Work closely with colleagues from Inspiring Communities Together and Salford CVS to deliver high-quality neighbourhood-based activities.
  • Plan, organise and support engagement activities, including forums, workshops, events and co-production sessions.
  • Ensure engagement is inclusive, accessible and reaches older people whose voices are less often heard.
  • Capture, analyse and summarise feedback from older residents in clear and meaningful ways.
  • Share insight and recommendations with partners to influence service design, delivery and decision-making.
  • Support the development, delivery and review of Age Friendly Standards, ensuring they reflect the lived experience, needs and aspirations of older people and good practice.
  • Work with partners to help them understand and apply Age Friendly Standards in their organisations and services.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with community groups, voluntary organisations and statutory partners.
  • Promote Age Friendly principles and support partners to embed them in practice.
  • Contribute to - reports, briefings and programme activities that reflect the voice and influence of older people.
  • Support initiatives that help older residents feel informed, involved, and able to influence change.
  • Support the coordination, planning and delivery of the Salford's Older People's Network.
  • Support organisational activity, including service promotion, outreach events, volunteer engagement, fundraising, and other duties in line with the role and the mission of Age UK Salford and Trafford.
  • Undertake other duties or tasks that are reasonably required by the Service Manager, aligned with the overall purpose and scope of the role

The successful candidate must be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS as well as provide references. The DBS is covered by the organisation.
