Vocational Instructor - Mechanics, Engineering & Youth Development

Location: Basildon, Essex

Salary: £21,731-£24,195.50 + Up to £2,500 Annual Performance Bonus

Job Type: Full Time Permanent Term Time Only

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm (Direct learner contact: 9:00am-2:30pm)

Start Date: September 2026

New Chapter Tuition is proud to be working exclusively with a specialist vocational education provision to recruit a Vocational Instructor for their growing team in Basildon.

Supporting learners from KS3-KS5 with SEMH, ADHD, SEND, emotional and behavioural needs, you'll deliver engaging vocational learning on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping young people rebuild confidence, develop practical skills and achieve positive outcomes.

This opportunity would suit candidates from backgrounds including mechanics, engineering, motor vehicle, sports coaching, youth work, cadets, vocational training, behaviour mentoring or education.

You'll need:

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience supporting learners with SEMH, ADHD, SEND or challenging behaviour.
  • A calm, resilient and trauma-informed approach.
