Job Description
Job TitleVirtual Build & Integration EngineerLocationWoking Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager (Launch), you will be responsible for planning and leading the Virtual Build process, whilst actively supporting the integration of new products into the existing production facility, ensuring all manufacturing engineering deliverables are aligned between new model and current series manufacturing engineering.Working cross functionally, you are a core member of the simultaneous engineering culture at McLaren Automotive. Using simulation tools to evaluate, optimise and validate, process, product, and tooling designs. You will work with the Manufacturing Engineering team to develop the product design (DFM) of future products, with a focus on quality, cost, and efficiency.Furthermore, you will be responsible for bringing new models into current series production ensuring that the new model is well known, fully understood, and aligned to current processes and methods achieving a flawless integration.As a Virtual Build and Integration Engineer, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:- Consult with the Manufacturing Engineering teams to allocate build stations & define build sequence.- Create and maintain the "Virtual Build tree."- Chair Virtual build events with support of business stakeholders.- Develop and manage Virtual build timing plans.- Continually improve the Virtual build process & execution.- Collate & communicate issue status reports with Virtual Build event findings.- Lead resolution of Virtual build issues.- Lead design reviews for internal use & supplier engagement.- Own and update the virtual "Tooling Catalogue" with the support of the Bespoke Tooling and Manufacturing Engineering teams.- Perform Ergonomic checks e.g. reachability studies, loading studies, tooling access, kinematic models etc.- Function as the primary point of contact for virtual assessments.- Coach the Manufacturing Engineering team in virtual assessment best practices, to support in the ongoing development of the vehicle concept.- Engage the Series Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure awareness and understanding at the beginning of a project.- Working to the agreed integration plan ensure the new product and series manufacturing engineering teams interact at the appropriate gateways.- Ensure phased ownership of new models with the series manufacturing Engineering Team.Functional / Technical sills- Strong understanding of Virtual Manufacturing tools available in CATIA V5 / Dassault Delmia software- Understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA and control plan updatesPersonal Attributes / Competencies:- Self-motivated- Capable of working collaboratively and autonomously.- Adaptable to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.- Effective communication and people skills.- Effective in influencing, negotiating, and resolving conflicts.- Flexible and open-minded approach to tasks and responsibilities.- Proven experience in a Virtual Build Engineer role / Virtual assessment role- Experience in developing and managing cross project timing plans.- Knowledge of General assembly process, tooling, and equipment- Experience using CAD software for virtual DFM analysis.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills- Strong presentation skills- Excellent IT proficiencyWe offer a wide - ranging benefits package, which includes: Structured career development framework 25 days' holiday, plus bank holiday.
