This is your chance to join a talented team at a pivotal moment, contributing to fast paced, agenda setting video output that drives traffic and revenue, as we redefine how a historic brand tells stories in the fast-paced digital world.

Your role:

As a Video Apprentice at The Sun, you will immerse yourself in the fast-paced world of digital storytelling alongside our video production team. You will support daily video editing and production across entertainment, news, and sports, creating high-performing content for platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook. Working closely with senior editors and producers, you will help shape creative ideas from initial guest research to final post-production edits.

Being an apprentice at The Sun:

During your time with us, you will earn above the living wage while receiving comprehensive, hands-on training. You'll work 4 days a week with The Sun and spend 1 day studying toward a fully funded NCTJ Diploma in Journalism. Along with mentorship from top industry professionals, we will provide any tailored support you need to reach your full potential.

Day to day you will:
  • Edit clips: Practice and build video editing skills in Adobe Premiere Pro to help cut social clips and video formats.

  • Research guests: Look up interesting guests across music, social media, and pop culture, and put together simple background info sheets.

  • Pitch creative ideas: Join team brainstorms to share guest ideas and fun interview questions.

  • Support on shoot days: Help out on set by setting up gear, finding props, and keeping filming running smoothly.

  • Spot social moments: Identify standout viral moments from filming to create episode summaries, content notes, and social media assets for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.

  • Help with shoot logistics: Assist with booking travel, stay accommodations, food catering, and crew needs for upcoming shoots.

  • Handle team admin: Take clear meeting notes, help with basic paperwork (like guest release forms and call sheets), and log invoices.

  • Organise media files: Keep video footage tidy, properly named, and easy for the editing team to find.

What we are looking for from you:
  • Creative flair for storytelling through video and digital media.

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms like TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.

  • Practical knowledge or basic skills in video software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects.

  • Clear communication skills with the ability to collaborate constructively with producers, senior editors, journalists, talent, and social media teams.

  • Passion to learn and gain real-world industry skills in a fast-paced environment.
