Veterinary Surgeon

Position Summary

A branch veterinary surgeon position at our Kennington first opinion practice, located in South London. The clinic is fast paced with a busy GP caseload.

Schedule: 30-40 hours per week with flexibility. Full time arrangements involve alternating Mondays and Fridays off, a 1:4 branch Saturday and a 1:10 hospital Sunday rotation. Rota to 1-2 bank holidays per year at Stone Lion Hospital. No on call requirements.

Salary: £45,000 - £67,000 per annum (full time based on 40 hours per week), commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out consultations, thoroughly examining all pets presented and making management and treatment recommendations that are evidence based and in accordance with GVG protocols.
• Perform GP surgery on cases as appropriate and within the boundaries of personal competence and limitation of overnight care.
• Maintain, prescribe and dispense all medications in accordance with current medicines legislation and RCVS guidance.
• Record accurate and thorough clinical notes, ensuring pets' histories are accurate, comprehensive and useful to colleagues.
• Refer cases in a timely manner, first to a GVG Hospital when unable to undertake a case.
• Help maintain a respectful and collaborative team environment.
• Participate in induction with Stone Lion 24 hour Hospital to prepare for Sunday shifts and internal referrals.
