Join our state-of-the-art practice in Handforth and you will have the clinical freedom to pursue your area of interest in a growing business. With guidance and development from both practice colleagues and our highly experienced regional team you can develop your skills in a direction of your choosing.

We are seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join our supportive and engaged team at Handforth Vets for Pets. You'll be working alongside 3 full time vets (one new graduate) as well as a team of RVN's, VCA's and non-clinical support colleagues who go above and beyond to allow you to focus on the role of a vet. Our practice can offer you the environment, caseload and equipment needed to utilise the skills you have gained to date, whilst also giving you plenty of opportunity to develop further, with support for postgraduate qualifications, CPD and training in your areas of interest.

We are a team that believes in supporting each other and bringing the best out in each other, if you want to work in a practice that puts your needs first, we are the practice for you.

Having opened in spring 2021, the practice has a high calibre of equipment and mod-cons, and is based on the Handforth Retail Park, under 30 minutes from Manchester City Centre and only 5 minutes from Manchester International Airport, making it the perfect location for get aways, or trips home during your time off.

Ideally you should have small animal experience gained as a general practitioner, and great people skills. You will be comfortable with occasional sole charge but will also relish being part of a team, working towards the same vision of providing gold standard care to the local community and their pets. However, we also want to see talented vets grow within our business, so will consider ambitious new grads for this role, providing you the support you need to succeed.

This is ideally a full-time position, but we can consider part time hours if you have other commitments. Weekends are on a rota basis with limited cover to keep it fair for everyone, and there's no OOHs. Weekend hours are Saturday 9am till 6pm and Sunday 10am till 4pm.

We pride ourselves on team wellbeing and therefore make sure to have protected breaks throughout the shifts.

As standard we offer all the benefits you'd expect from a major employer (pension, healthcare, paid memberships etc.) plus a few more, such as excellent career progression and exclusive lifestyle and shopping discounts (up to 20% off at Pets at Home), along with a competitive salary up to £70,000 (DOE,FTE)

Handforth Vets4Pets is at the forefront of providing the best pet care, encompassing a 360 approach by working alongside store and grooming colleagues to provide gold standard care to clients and their pets. So if you think you're a good match to what we are looking for, and you share our belief that together 'we're better with pets', we're waiting to hear from you, whatever your background or circumstances.

If you share our passion for delivering outstanding pet healthcare and great customer service and would like to join our team then we would love to hear from you. Please contact Rach at and someone will get back to you within 1 working day

Pets just see people. They aren't biased and they don't discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don't perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!
