Job Description
Isle Vets - Equine & Farm, Ely, Ely, East of England Salary up to £65,000 DOEand Relocation Allowance up to £5,000

Are you a passionate and dedicated Farm/Equine Veterinary Surgeon looking for your next adventure? Isle Vets in Ely, at the heart of Cambridgeshire, is looking for a new team member to join our friendly and supportive practice.

We take pride in delivering exceptional care to a diverse range of animals, from beloved pet horses to large farm livestock. With almost all our work being ambulatory, a valid driving license is essential.

A Unique and Varied Caseload

Our practice offers a fascinating mix of cases, with a slight emphasis on equine work. Our farm clients range from smallholders with pigs and alpacas to large commercial farms managing pedigree beef suckler herds. For those who enjoy something a little different, we even have opportunities to work with zoo animals. You might be performing dentistry on a camel, and the next, you could be reducing the beak on a giant tortoise.

Our routine work includes general health checks, while our surgical cases involve broken limbs, caesareans, rig operations, and laser procedures. We have excellent access to equine referral facilities for any cases requiring specialist treatment. If you have a particular interest in AI and embryo transfer, one of our Clinical Directors has a strong reputation in this field and would be happy to support your development.

Our talented team has expertise across orthopaedics, reproduction, medicine, and surgery, offering fantastic opportunities for professional growth. Whether you want to develop a specialism or work towards a certificate, we're here to support you.

Purpose-Built Facilities & Supportive Team

Our modern, purpose-built practice, located on the outskirts of Ely, is fully equipped with hospitalisation and surgical facilities for both equines and farm animals. We are continually investing in new equipment and technologies to ensure we provide the best possible care.

You'll be joining a dedicated team of 9 Veterinary Surgeons, including 2 certificate holders, alongside 2 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 5 Support Staff. We value teamwork and a supportive environment, and we're always happy to share knowledge and lend a hand.

We also love giving back to the community. We regularly support local charities, host client evenings, and give educational talks in the community.

Many of our vets have young families and so we understand the challenges of balancing work and family life. We pride ourselves on our flexible approach which enables all of our colleagues to enjoy a good work life balance. We offer flexible working patterns for both our full time and part time colleagues.

A full-time position will include working 40 hours per week over 4 days between Monday and Friday with out of hours /on call of 1 night per week and 1 in 4 weekends.
