Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled UX/UI Designer with active Security Clearance (SC) to support the design and delivery of user-centric digital services for a major UK Government client. This is a 6-month contract with high potential for extension, offering remote working with occasional travel to the London site as required.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and support the end-to-end design of user interfaces across multiple digital platforms.

Translate complex user and business needs into intuitive, accessible, and inclusive designs.

Conduct user research and usability testing to inform and validate design decisions.

Produce wireframes, prototypes, and visual mockups using tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.

Work collaboratively with Product Owners, Developers, BAs and other stakeholders in Agile teams.

Ensure adherence to government digital service standards (GDS) and accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

Iterate on designs based on feedback, research, and performance data.

Contribute to design libraries, style guides, and best practices documentation.
Required Skills and Experience

Active SC Clearance (Security Check) - essential.

Proven experience delivering UX and UI designs for government or secure environments.

Proficient in design and prototyping tools: Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, etc.

Strong understanding of user-centred design (UCD) principles and GDS standards.

Experience working in Agile environments with cross-functional teams.

Ability to communicate design decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end UX/UI design work.
Desirable Experience

Experience working with or within UK Government departments.

Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive design practices.

Familiarity with user research and analytics tools (eg, Hotjar, Google Analytics, Optimal Workshop).

Understanding of basic HTML/CSS for design feasibility conversations.
Location & Working Model

Remote-first role with minimal on-site presence required at the London client site.
