Unqualified Teaching Assistant

Pay: £92.63 per day

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming special needs school in Tilehurst. This full time job supports children and young people aged 4 to 17 with a wide range of additional needs, ranging from moderate to severe learning disabilities. You will collaborate closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support, help pupils access learning, develop essential life skills, and build confidence in their day to day school experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils both in classroom settings and on a one to one basis.
• Use effective behaviour management strategies to encourage engagement, participation, and independence.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and adapt your approach to meet diverse needs.
• Provide personal care support where necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

• Relevant and transferable experience from SEND school settings, care or support work, social work, or similar roles involving vulnerable individuals.
• Confident in engaging with children and young people with additional needs and able to act as a positive and consistent role model.
• Flexible, observant, proactive, patient, and resilient, capable of responding effectively to the challenges and rewards of the role.
• Suitable qualification for the position. You will be required to provide an up to date DBS check or allow the agency to process one.
• Preparation to attend a face to face interview.
