About the role

The Art, Design and Crafts Curriculum Area has delivered outstanding provision over a number of years with a high profile both regionally and nationally and offers a broad range of provision from Level 1 through to BA Honours degree courses.

We require an enthusiastic and creative person to support the Award Leader for BA Fashion Design and Product Innovation in this exciting programme. The role may also work over other levels such as Level 3 Fashion and the Textiles A level courses.

The Programme aims to produce graduates who can articulate and synthesize knowledge and understanding, attributes and skills in effective ways in the contexts of creative practice, employment, further study, research and personal development. They will also apply a critical and contextual, historical, conceptual and ethical dimension to the study of Fashion and Art and Design in general. They have access to industry standard equipment and technologies with an emphasis towards the digital processes (Adobe suite, Gerber) pattern cutting and fashion design.

As part of the interview process, candidates will be asked to present a portfolio highlighting relevant examples of their work.

Qualifications

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Fashion Tutor who holds a relevant degree qualification and has experience of teaching at BA level within the Further Education sector. The successful candidate will have the ability to deliver a broad range of fashion design skills, including research, concept development, garment design, pattern cutting, technical specification, and product development. A strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges of delivering Higher Education programmes within an FE environment is essential, while recent industry experience, particularly in product development or commercial fashion practice, would be advantageous.
