Job Description

The Drama Tutor will be responsible for the planning, preparation and delivery of high quality teaching and learning for students, providing practical, experiential and therapeutic education that supports personal growth and skill development. This role plays a key part in fostering creativity, confidence and self expression through drama based activities, performance work and accredited learning opportunities.

We are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Drama Tutor to join our college crafts team. Working with a small group of students, you will deliver accredited qualifications while supporting learners to achieve both their educational and personal goals. You will design engaging sessions that incorporate a blend of practical drama, creative exploration and tailored therapeutic approaches, ensuring all learners are supported according to their individual needs.

The key Duties in this role will include:

  • To plan and deliver Drama skills, movement and acting skills
  • Develop an inspiring environment where students feel safe to express themselves, while delivering structured drama sessions that encourage creative exploration and growth through physical performance.
  • Ensuring students engage in learning and achieve through careful planning of the structure, methodology and delivery of the learning experience.
  • Delivering teaching and training with a therapeutic and supportive approach, wherever possible linking students learning activities through a methodology of the Trust, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education.
  • To be a part of ongoing assessment of students learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required minimising barriers to learning and achievement.

To undertake this position successfully you will have:

  • Knowledge and experience of delivering Drama sessions
  • Experience of working within the art of drama whilst having the ability to deliver and plan sessions for young adults in a therapeutic environment
  • A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. If not held the successful candidate must be willing to work towards.
  • This post will suit someone who has the significant experience working in Drama and have experience of working with children and young people with SEND.
  • You must be able to instil enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that can lead to increased self-esteem and enhanced engagement in learning.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
