Job Description

Do you have a passion for supporting young people and helping them re engage with education? Tradewind Recruitment are currently looking for compassionate and flexible 1:1 Tutors to support children in alternative provisions across South Tyneside area through personalised tuition. The role is contracted for a full academic year whilst giving you the freedom to control how many hours you wish to work per day ranging from 2-6 hours.

The Role
  • Delivering individualised tuition sessions, primarily in English and Maths, either face to face or online.
  • Designing and adapting lesson plans to meet individual needs, including EHCP and PEP targets.
  • Encouraging engagement, confidence, and motivation through supportive teaching approaches.
  • Working closely with Virtual Schools, carers, social workers, and education settings to ensure joined up support.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and contributing to ongoing educational planning.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Have experience teaching, tutoring, or supporting vulnerable young people, particularly those in care or with SEMH needs.
  • Are understanding of the unique challenges faced by children in the care system.
  • Can adapt their teaching methods to suit different abilities and learning styles.
  • Are patient, reliable, and committed to helping young people succeed.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle to travel across North Yorkshire.
  • Possess a teaching qualification such as QTS or QTLS, which would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Show a strong commitment to supporting young people.
