The Naval Children s Charity (NCC) are dedicated to improving the wellbeing and development of Naval children and young people. We provide a wealth of support, guidance and resources to help dependant children (up to and including the age of 25) whose parents/guardians serve or have served in the Royal Navy and who are in need, hardship or distress. With a team of caseworkers in Portsmouth, Helensburgh and Plymouth, we offer financial assistance, free resources and a range of opportunities to address the challenges that the children and young people face as a result of their parents service.
Purpose of job
Caseworkers provide support and advice to eligible individuals in line with the policies of the Naval Children s Charity. They work closely with other organisations to ensure that children and families receive appropriate and prompt support.
Responsibilities and duties
1. Triage casework
a. Act as the first point of contact for the Casework team and beneficiaries.
b. Contact beneficiaries in response to initial enquiries
c. Complete an initial assessment of need
d. Follow up with beneficiaries at regular intervals
e. Keep up to date with developments in legislation, the benefits system and have an awareness of the MOD allowance system
2. Confidentiality
a. Ensure confidential handling of all information concerning beneficiaries in line with the Naval Children s Charity Data Protection policies
b. Keep thorough, confidential and systematic record of all matters concerning beneficiaries
3. Internal co-operation and external collaboration
a. To be aware of the work of the Naval Children s Charity and the challenges and experiences of our Naval children and young people
b. Enable colleagues to achieve objectives through effective and collaborative working
c. Work in partnership with colleagues in the military, volunteer and children s sectors in order to provide the best possible outcomes for our families
4. General
a. Represent The Naval Children s Charity externally as required
b. To monitor and evaluate activities against agreed outcomes
c. To liaise closely with other Naval Children s Charity staff in supporting the aims and objectives of the organisation
d. Carry out any other duties commensurate with the post as identified by your line manager
