Job Description

We are seeking a competent accountant who can undertake the role of Treasurer for a Church of England Team Ministry. The Ministry covers for 9 churches and 2 church halls. Each Church has its own Church Council which deals with upkeep of that church. The Team ministry runs a team office dealing with bookings for weddings and funerals and supports the clergy team. There is a salaried part time administrator. The volunteer Treasurer is responsible for make payments for clergy expenses, dealing with the payroll (outsourced to a bureau), banking fees and making returns to the Diocese. The Treasurer establishes a budget for the year and sets the level of funding required from each of the 9 churches to support the Ministry Office costs. The Treasurer maintains the accounting records and reports to the Ministry Joint Council quarterly with a financial report and also prepares the annual report and accounts. The Team ministry is a charity.

The work involves about 1 day per week and would suit a local accountant, possibly retired, with an interest in church life. There is a small clergy team of Rector, Team Vicar, Curate and several honorary ministers.
