Job Description

Target Housing is a well-established and fast-growing regional charity and social business, working with some of the most vulnerable people in society. As a registered provider, CQC-registered care provider, and charitable organisation, we deliver housing and support to:

People experiencing entrenched street homelessness Women who have had children removed into care Survivors of domestic abuse People with complex needs, mental health issues, and learning disabilities Following five years of sustained growth, we now own 160 homes and manage a further 800+ across the region, supported by over 200 staff. Our annual turnover is approaching £18m, with a small operating surplus, and we are entering our next strategic phase.

About the Role

We are now seeking a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) to join our Board as Treasurer.

This is a non-executive, voluntary role offering an opportunity to make a tangible difference while providing strategic oversight of our finances and risk management.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Board in understanding financial performance, risk and compliance
  • Working with the Finance Director, CEO and Chair to review budgets, forecasts, and accounts
  • Ensuring good governance across financial reporting, reserves, and regulatory responsibilities

Board meetings are held every 2 months in person in Rotherham, with some additional involvement by phone/email between meetings as needed. Expenses are reimbursed.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified accountant, possibly semi-retired or seeking to give back through voluntary service
  • Financially astute, with strong strategic thinking and a pragmatic mindset
  • Passionate about social purpose and not overly risk-averse - we are a "can-do" organisation that tackles complex issues head-on
  • Familiar with (or open to learning about) the housing, charity, or social care sectors
