A well established food business is looking for a Transport Operations Manager to take charge of the day to day running of a busy transport office. This is a key operational role where you'll lead the planning function, support senior leadership, and help keep a high volume operation moving smoothly.

If you enjoy fast paced environments, thrive on structure and people leadership, and want to play a central role in a growing transport division, this is a strong next step.

You'll be at the centre of a transport operation that plays a crucial role in getting fresh produce to major customers across the UK. This is a chance to step into a role with visibility, influence, and the opportunity to grow as the division continues to expand.

Why Consider this Role

  • Lead the Planning Function - You'll oversee the team responsible for building routes, allocating resources, and ensuring the daily schedule runs efficiently.

  • Support Senior Leadership - You'll work closely with the Head of Transport, helping deliver key priorities and supporting wider operational improvements.

  • Shape Daily Performance - You'll be the person who keeps the operation on track, solving problems, coordinating activity, and ensuring service levels stay high.

  • Grow With the Division - The transport function is expanding, creating real opportunities for future progression.

  • Data Driven Decision Making - You'll use systems, tracking tools, and performance metrics to drive smarter, more efficient operations.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Managing the transport planning team and ensuring routes and schedules are built effectively

  • Acting as the operational right hand to the Head of Transport, helping deliver priorities and supporting wider initiatives

  • Monitoring performance indicators such as fuel usage, route efficiency, and service delivery

  • Coordinating with internal teams and customers to maintain a smooth, responsive operation

  • Handling day to day issues, incidents, and operational challenges with a calm, structured approach

  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve the overall running of the department

  • Supporting a positive, disciplined, and well organised team culture

(Vehicle compliance and maintenance are handled by dedicated specialists. Your focus is people, planning, and operational delivery.)

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in a transport or logistics leadership role

  • Strong understanding of transport operations and driver related regulations

  • Confidence managing teams in a busy, time sensitive environment

  • A structured, organised approach with strong problem solving ability

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with multiple stakeholders

  • Comfortable using planning systems, tracking tools, and operational data

  • CPC is beneficial but not essential
