Job Description

A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced site engineer to join a leading power distribution and supply company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to transformer faults, oil leaks, and operational issues on-site.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repair and rectification work.
  • Perform mechanical tasks such as gasket/seal replacement, leak repairs, component refitting, and cooling system maintenance.
  • Conduct basic electrical fault-finding, component checks, and functional testing of relays, alarms, and controls.
  • Complete detailed job reports, fault investigations, and supporting documentation (photos, RAMS, service sheets).
  • Travel regularly across the UK and Europe for reactive site work.
  • Work independently on customer sites, following lone working procedures.
  • Support additional site services tasks when not on callouts (e.g. audits, planned works, documentation).
  • Maintain high standards of health & safety, site organisation, and compliance.

Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working on distribution and power transformers.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering background.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification.
  • Experience with fault finding, troubleshooting, and site-based repairs.
  • Strong understanding of health & safety and risk assessments.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • ECS card
  • Transformer testing experience.
  • Lifting/rigging, FLT, or IPAF certification.
  • Experience in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills with customers and internal teams.
  • Flexible and responsive, able to attend site at short notice.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider team.
