Trainee Technical Support Engineer

You will be working within a wider multi-professional Medical Device Service Team that delivers engineering, governance and training across a number of Care Organisations and community teams. All services are developed and managed with the patient at the centre and in close collaboration with the clinical teams. The Medical Device Service welcomes innovative approaches and aims to provide clear development pathways and opportunities for staff at every level to ensure delivery of high-quality outcomes.

Please note that for this post you will be required to have obtained a full UK Driving Licence.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to:

  • Undertake testing and repair of a wide range of medical equipment
  • Assist in identifying and managing risk associated with medical equipment and support investigation of medical device related incidents.
  • Assist in monitoring key performance standards associated with both internal and external work plans.

The post holder will be a member of a multi-disciplined team of Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Library and Clerical staff, providing a medical equipment management service across the Trust.

Key Role and Responsibilities include:

  • To support the technical engineering staff with retrieving equipment for repairs and routine servicing.
  • Making equipment ready for testing, this will include decontamination and updating ISO 9001 records.
  • To provide portering and basic storekeeping services.
  • Carrying out basic testing of medical equipment and associated items.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • HNC (level 4/5 BTEC) minimum in Electronics engineering.
Knowledge, Training & Experience
  • Used to following instructions to carry out maintenance tasks.
  • Working in a ISO9001 environment
  • Use of test tools
Skills & Abilities
  • Experienced in fault finding on electronic devices
  • Experienced in carrying out routine maintenance on electronic devices
  • Previous work in a field of electronic maintenance and repair
Other
  • Full clean UK driving licence.
