Role: Trainee Health Screener
Location: Plymouth - the role will cover screening clinics in Plymouth with occasional cover required in Devon. Training will take place in Exeter.
Salary: £24,454.04, rising upon completion of your Health Screener Diploma.
Diabetic eye screening involves taking photographs of the back of the eye to detect diabetic retinopathy before sight is affected. This role ensures patients receive a safe, friendly and accurate screening experience.
Main duties of the job- Ensure that patients are made to feel welcome and comfortable throughout the screening process
- Undertake the screening checklist to ensure the screening environment is safe (for yourself and your patients)
- Basic maintenance of the camera and equipment to enable the best possible images are taken
- Safely administer the eye drops (to enlarge pupils) and undertake photographs ensuring correct field of view
- Identify any patients requiring urgent onward referral at the time of their screening appointment
- Maintain a sufficient stock of consumables to run your clinic

- Although we will provide full training, we are looking for individuals who are able to take detailed close pictures of the eye and remain composed
- People who consider themselves adaptable and possess the ability to think quickly and resolve problems
- Flexible in their working week as occasional evening and weekend work may be required and a commitment to completing their Health Screener Diploma in the required timescale

- Full driving licence and access to a car for travel to and from clinics
