Job Description
Trainee Duty Manager - Canterbury

Salary: £28,516.80 per annum.

Hours: 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. Full time shift pattern: Monday 05 30, Tuesday 05 30, Wednesday 14 00, Thursday 14 00, Sunday 05 30. Occasional flexibility may be required to meet the Centre's needs.

A dedicated team at the Kings School Sports Centre offers a trainee role that blends operational management with customer service, facilities upkeep, lifeguarding, and pool plant maintenance. The position provides on the job learning and a clear path to progression.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Centre Management in the effective operation of the Sports Centre by overseeing opening and closing procedures, ensuring security and readiness.
  • Provide high standard customer care and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and Centre users.
  • Maintain cleanliness and presentation of facilities, and assist with daily activity changeovers.
  • Support all Centre staff and departments, including Recreation Assistants, Receptionists, Sports, Fitness, and Swimming.
  • Carry out lifeguard duties in accordance with current qualifications, the Centre's Normal Operating Procedures (NOP) and Emergency Action Plan (EAP), and participate in regular pool training sessions.
  • Operate and maintain pool plant systems, conduct routine water quality tests, back wash, and ensure all systems comply with health and safety standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and explore progression opportunities within the Centre.
Qualifications
  • Emergency First Aid at Work (must be held or obtainable).
  • Pool Lifeguard (STA, NPLQ, or RLSS).
  • Pool Plant Operator.

The role requires successful completion of the Emergency First Aid at Work and Pool Lifeguard qualifications; training courses will be provided if necessary.
