Reports To: Contracts Manager / Senior Contracts Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Contracts Engineer to join our growing team. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fire protection industry, working closely with experienced engineers to support project delivery from design through to installation and handover.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the planning and coordination of fire sprinkler installation projects.
• Support senior engineers in preparing project documentation including technical submittals, schedules, and reports.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth execution of contracts.
• Monitor project progress and provide updates to internal teams.
• Attend site meetings and assist with site inspections and surveys.
• Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety regulations and industry standards.
• Learn and apply applicable codes and standards (e.g., BS EN 12845, NFPA, LPC Rules).
• Maintain accurate project records and assist with cost tracking and invoicing.

Requirements:

• Strong interest in fire protection systems and engineering.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organisational and time management abilities.
• Willingness to learn and develop technical and commercial skills.
• Full UK driving license.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit is advantageous but not necessary.
• A background in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field is not necessary but would be advantageous.
