Job Description

Reporting to: Assistant Service Delivery Manager South

Purpose

The purpose of the Traffic Supervisor role is to assist with the run out and run in from the depot, and to then provide network-based support to the network driver team.

Responsibilities
  • Work to deliver a successful run-out from the depot yard, ensuring punctual departures
  • Assist with the run in as required to ensure efficient return and organisation of fleet
  • Undertaking compliance spot checks during run out and whilst on the network, to include, but not limited to driver licence, CPC, defect cards, etc.
  • Stationed at key interchanges during peak times to ensure punctual departures, monitoring Driver changeovers and assisting Drivers and Customers
  • Updating Control Team on local conditions on the network
  • Assist the Control Team with service interventions on the network, including vehicle swaps where required
  • Provide ground support for major events and unplanned and planned diversions
  • Support the HSEQ team, as required, with route risk assessments
  • Provide Ticket Machine (ETM) swaps on network to minimise service disruption
  • Maintain a visible presence on the network and at key locations to support the driver and control team
  • Work alongside local An Garda Síochana to deliver joint activities and community outreach on the network
  • Providing customers with information and assistance on the network
  • Producing reports as required by the ASDM
  • Provide first-line response to incidents where required
  • Ensure ongoing effective communications and engagement with Operations, Facilities and Engineering teams
  • Ensure that Health and Safety requirements are monitored and managed proactively
  • Responsibility in managing, participating, and complying with the Integrated Management System (IMS)
Knowledge and Skills Requirements
  • Minimum driving age of 21 to comply with regulations
  • Reasonable numeracy and literacy skills
  • Experience working in a customer service role, building relationships with customers and colleagues
  • Good knowledge of the operating area.
  • Experience of conflict avoidance and working within a team
  • Ability to work with technology and adapt to new systems of working
  • Experience in the public transport industry
  • The ability to communicate clearly and precisely
  • To be a good decision maker, confident, and quick to learn
Key Safety Responsibilities
  • To act in a manner as to ensure the health, safety, welfare, environment and fire safety of yourself and others in the organisation as well as any clients and visitors.
  • Ensure that you and any guests to any company premises understand emergency and evacuation arrangements.
  • Ensure your working environment is maintained in a safe and tidy condition. To act proactively in identifying and any unsafe practices or safety risks in the organisation and reporting these through the appropriate channels.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant company and Go-Ahead group company policies and procedures.
