Responsibilities- Maintaining the Bank's liquidity reserve position and clearing balance for all managed currencies.
- Managing the balance sheet liquidity for all actively managed currencies, including executing trades with external counterparties via money market instruments such as fixed term deposits, repurchase agreements, short term government bills, and foreign exchange swaps.
- Reacting to incoming and outgoing deposit flows to ensure prudent balance sheet management.
- Assisting in managing the longer dated HQLA securities portfolio within the International Treasury team, covering supranational, sovereign, agency securities, covered bonds, and ABS.
- Working with Global Counterparty Credit to broaden the investable universe and maximize investment opportunities.
- Assisting in determining the interest rates the Bank will pay on deposits through market trading knowledge and investment options.
- Employing funding strategies to achieve the lowest cost funds within established liquidity constraints.
- Monitoring market conditions via Bloomberg, news sources, and communication with brokers and counterparties, and updating spread levels for the investment portfolio strategy.
- Managing the use of the Bank's securities and loan collateral for borrowings, regulatory requirements, and participation in various financial market utilities.
- Acting as a liaison to Central Banks regarding direct transactions (discount window borrowings, investments, etc.), collateral management, and related issues.
- Compiling data from financial management to understand and communicate drivers of balance sheet changes.
- Expanded conceptual knowledge of markets and market activity.
- An understanding of key business drivers and the ability to use that understanding to accomplish work.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex information in a straightforward manner.
- Knowledge of central bank monetary policy, interest rates, foreign exchange and credit markets, and theory to monitor and manage cash positions in various currencies.
- Knowledge of banking operations to understand and project balances and positions.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg (beneficial but not essential).
- Strong analytical skills for resolving exceptions.
- Proficiency with various software packages for compiling data for reports and for buying and selling funds.
- Application of a wide variety of financial analysis and economic methodologies to understand and interpret market behaviour.
- Thorough business knowledge, preferably from experience in financial markets or bank operations.
