About The Role

Associate Lecturer in MFL Education (Temporary Assignment)

We are seeking to recruit an Associate Lecturer in MFL Education who will be based in the School of Education. The role involves contributing to the design, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality MFL Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and supporting trainee teachers to develop subject knowledge, pedagogy, and professional practice required for effective MFL teaching in schools.

This post is available from 1st September 2026 on a temporary basis.

Pay will be at a rate of £45.83ph for approximately 95 hours of teaching and £21.63ph for approximately 315 hours of marking, tutoring and administrative work.

About You

Essential Criteria:

  • A degree in MFL or closely related discipline
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS or equivalent)
  • Experience teaching MFL in English secondary schools
  • Experience of supporting trainee or early career teachers
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills
  • Ability to inspire and support trainee teachers
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with schools and colleagues
  • Skilled in giving constructive, developmental feedback
  • Commitment to high-quality teacher education
  • Reflective and evidence-informed practitioner
  • Enthusiastic about MFL and education
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

Desirable Criteria:

  • A postgraduate qualification or doctorate in a related field
  • Experience working in Initial Teacher Education or teacher training
  • Experience of school partnership work
  • Experience contributing to curriculum design
