About the PositionThe TownshipClerk is a statutory member of the Township Board and serves as:
- ChiefElection Official for the Township
- Custodianof Official Records and Ordinances
- Secretaryto the Township Board
- FinancialAdministrator responsible for warrants and recordkeeping
The Township Clerkplays a vital role in ensuring elections are conducted lawfully andefficiently, public records are properly maintained, and Township meetings andfinancial documentation comply with state law.
Minimum RequirementsBy law, theTownship Clerk must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. Citizen, a registeredvoter in Waterford Township, and live in Waterford Township.
Core Responsibilities Include- Administeringall federal, state, and local elections
- Managingvoter registration and absentee ballot processes
- Maintainingcustody of township records
- PreparingBoard meeting agendas and minutes
- Signingwarrants and maintaining financial records
