Job Description

You will have overall responsibility for the management of the council's services and ensuring good governance. It is a busy and varied job, with involvement across all areas of council activity.

At the core of the role, you will ensure the council iswell managed, overseeing the delivery of the council's services and working with the council and other staff to deliver continual improvement in service delivery.

You willbe responsible forthe delivery of the council's strategic plan, working with members to develop annual action plans and ensuring their completion.

You will ensure the counciloperateswithin the statutory frameworks which govern it, this will include compliance with local council law, dataprotectionand freedom of information requirements. This will also include relevant licensing obligations (in relation to events and the market hall which is a licensed premises). You will ensure the councilremainsup-to-datewith best practice and any changes in governance expectations.

You will manage an effective democratic body, ensuring council and committee meetingsoperatesmoothlyand members have the information needed to make effective decisions. This will include working with members to develop proposals and developing proposals on your own initiative and with the wider staff team. You will ensure the council's decisions and policies are implemented. You will provide advice and guidance to members, both within council meetings and outside meetings to support them in their roles.

You will lead the council's staffing team, ensuring staff arewell managedand motivated and that the council's obligations as an employer are met. This will include line management responsibilities for the management team.

As responsible financial officer, you willbe responsible forthe council's finances, ensuring effective accounting systems are in place, that procurement requirements are met and monitoring and drafting budgets.

You willmaintainstrong positive relationships with other public sector bodies, communityorganisationsand other partners in the town, to support the effective working of the town council and wider community.

Overall, you will strive to ensure Knutsford Town Council can best serve its residents and to make Knutsford the best it can be.
