If you're a qualified or almost qualified Therapeutic Radiographer, join the Oxford Radiotherapy Department and be part of a dynamic, supportive team dedicated to delivering compassionate excellence.

As a Band 5 Therapeutic Radiographer, you'll deliver safe, high-quality radiotherapy treatment using advanced techniques such as SABR, VMAT, DIBH, TBI and SRS. You'll work with an experienced team in a friendly environment where your development and wellbeing matter.

Our department is equipped with cutting-edge technology including Varian Halcyons, Varian TrueBeams with 6DoF, RGSC and SRS capability; Siemens CT GoSims and HDR, all networked by ARIA. We are a multi-site centre with satellites in Swindon & Milton Keynes - 3 sites, 1 team.

We're committed to your growth with a solid induction and preceptorship programme. After 12 months post-qualification, you'll have the opportunity to join our Link Programme to Band 6. Successful completion = automatic promotion Band 6.

Main duties of the job
  • Work as a member of the radiography team covering all sections of the department including mould room, CT scanning, virtual simulation and contouring; delivery of a wide range of both simple and complex treatment and IGRT techniques
  • Liaise with the multidisciplinary team
  • Assist with the day-to-day organisation of a treatment unit to ensure an efficient service and achievement of workload targets
  • Supervise, support & teach junior staff and students

Person specification Education & Qualifications
  • BSc (Hon) in Radiotherapy
  • HCPC registered Therapeutic Radiographer
  • Awareness of HCPC standard of conduct
Experience
  • Recent experience of working clinically within radiotherapy
  • Experience in NHS
  • Experience of paid employment either full or part time
  • Experience of using Varian equipment including linacs, virtual simulation and Eclipse treatment planning system
Knowledge
  • Core knowledge of a range of radiotherapy equipment and techniques together with the principles underlying them
  • A general understanding of computerised treatment planning systems
  • Core knowledge of the principles of radiotherapy treatment planning and radiation dosimetry as applied to radiotherapy treatments
  • Core knowledge of a range of imaging equipment and principles underlying their use
  • Detailed understanding of the disease process of malignant tumours
  • Understanding of Ionising Radiation Regulations and responsibilities relating to own professional practice
  • Good anatomical knowledge
  • Knowledge of the department and Trust values and behaviours
  • Awareness of governance and its importance in maintaining safe practice
  • Knowledge of research and trials
  • Knowledge of risk management
Skills & Abilities
  • Good technical and manual dexterity skills to operate sophisticated equipment in a rapidly changing technology landscape
