Job Description
Test Operative - Immediate start.

We are working alongside one of our clients based in Abingdon, Oxford who are looking for a Test Operative to join their team on a temp to perm basis.


The Test Operative is responsible for carrying out testing and inspection activities on products, components, and sub-assemblies to ensure they meet required specifications, quality standards, and performance criteria before release.



Key Responsibilities

  • Perform testing and inspection of products, assemblies, and individual components in line with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and established testing procedures.

  • Use a variety of testing equipment, tools, and documentation to verify product performance and compliance with required standards.

  • Work in a structured, organised, and efficient manner to achieve production and testing targets within set deadlines.

  • Accurately complete all test records, quality documentation and production paperwork as required.

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and other departments to support the smooth operation of production activities.

  • Maintain high standards of quality throughout all testing and inspection processes.

  • Follow all company procedures, work instructions, and quality management requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and contribute to a safe and organised working environment.

  • Investigate and rectify faults identified during testing activities where appropriate, ensuring corrective actions are completed to the required standard.

  • Escalate complex faults, quality concerns, or non-conformances through the appropriate channels.

  • Support continuous improvement activities by identifying opportunities to enhance testing processes, product quality, and operational efficiency.

  • Take responsibility for ensuring tested products are approved and ready to progress to the next stage of production.



Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, production, testing, or quality inspection environment is desirable.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and test procedures.

  • Experience using testing equipment, measuring instruments or diagnostic tools would be advantageous.

  • Understanding of quality standards and inspection processes within a manufacturing setting.

  • Ability to identify faults, investigate issues and carry out basic corrective actions.



  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage workload effectively.

  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet production deadlines.

  • Competent record-keeping and documentation skills.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.



Working hours

Monday-Friday, 39 hours.



Pay Rate

£13.75p/h
