Test Manager (Oracle Financials)

On behalf of Tesco IMS, AMS are now looking for a Test Manager for an initial 6 Month contract based in the bank's Edinburgh office on a hybrid working model.

About the Role:

We're seeking an experienced Test Manager to join our team within the financial services sector, focusing on complex organisational change initiatives. This role will involve working with reconciliation systems (payroll and accounts), including Oracle Financials. While direct testing is not the primary focus, you will play a key role in organising, leading, and delivering high-quality testing outcomes through structured planning and stakeholder collaboration.

You'll oversee the full test life cycle-ensuring alignment with internal standards and quality gateways, supporting both Agile and Waterfall delivery models. Experience with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) from an organisational and coordination perspective is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the planning, execution, and reporting of testing across projects.
• Create and deliver detailed Test Plans and Test Completion Reports.
• Own and manage Quality Gateways and contribute to Test Risk Assessments.
• Organise and manage UAT phases, ensuring business readiness and user engagement.
• Manage all test activities and associated resources, including capacity planning.
• Oversee project defects and ensure timely resolution.
• Provide accurate and timely Daily Status Reports during test execution.
• Support recruitment and development of Senior Test Engineers and Test Engineers.
• Mentor, coach, and provide leadership to test teams, promoting continuous improvement.
• Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders (eg, Project Managers, Analysts, Developers, Architects).
• Collaborate with third-party suppliers to ensure test governance and evidence is in place.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Experience coordinating UAT from a business-user or end-to-end readiness perspective.
• Strong understanding of financial systems, particularly reconciliation platforms, payroll, and accounts, including Oracle Financials.
• Demonstrated experience working on large-scale organisational change projects.
• Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Skilled in planning and delivering across Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Familiarity with key test types: Unit Testing, System Testing, System Integration Testing, and UAT.
• Strong governance, documentation, and reporting skills.
• Experience managing test teams and mentoring junior staff members.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with tight timelines.

Desirable Attributes:

• Understanding of test management tools and defect tracking systems.
• Knowledge of test automation strategies is a plus, though hands-on automation is not required.
