Job Description

Job Title: Test Harness Wiring Specialist

Location: Cheltenham

Pay Rate: £40 per hour via Umbrella (Inside IR25)

Length of contract: 6 Months initially

Overview:The Test Harness Wiring Specialist is responsible for the assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical harnesses and test equipment used in aerospace or industrial applications. This role requires expertise in wiring techniques, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards to ensure the reliability and performance of test systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and wire test harnesses and equipment based on engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Perform continuity checks and functional tests to verify the integrity and performance of harnesses.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot wiring issues, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of wiring processes, modifications, and test results.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure harnesses meet design and operational requirements.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, such as IPC/WHMA-A-620 (if applicable).
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electrical wiring or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in wiring and assembly of test harnesses or similar electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Familiarity with aerospace or industrial standards for wiring and harness assembly.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) principles
  • Knowledge of soldering techniques and crimping tools.
  • Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
