Job Description
About The Role

We need you to assist our customers who have been placed in temporary accommodation to maintain their tenancy and provide support and advice to enable them to move on to more suitable long term accommodation.

You'll focus on providing needs based advice and practical assistance on taking up a new tenancy along with advice on how to budget effectively and access appropriate welfare benefits. You'll carry out regular visits and inspections to ensure our customers are looking after the property and assist with reporting repairs where necessary.

You'll engage with households in temporary accommodation and our Fare Lets private rented scheme, to assess individual needs and make referrals to statutory and voluntary agencies. You'll provide advice to our customers with claims against welfare benefit refusals and/or withdrawals and work with Charities and Trusts to obtain funding to assist with hardship and reduce debts.

About You

You'll need a good working knowledge of homelessness and housing law; landlord tenant responsibilities and welfare benefits. Excellent communication skills are essential as you'll need to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers. You must be able to prioritise your workload.

A full driving licence is essential to be able to visit properties and customers across the Borough.

You will need access to secure databases and systems so any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory BASIC DBS check for the successful candidate.
