Assistant Digital Analyst - IT
Temporary Assignment

Main purpose of job
To be responsible to the relevant Senior Digital Analyst or Digital Analyst for assisting with work associated with the development, implementation and support of IS/IT solutions and the delivery of same to agreed time, budget and performance standards.
Summary of responsibilities and personal duties
Undertake work in one or more of the following areas:-
Desktop support; Service desk support; Network administration and support; Training; Software development; Cloud service and Server administration; Database administration; Cyber security activity; Package acquisition and implementation; Post implementation supportand, System configuration and security
Contribute to or draw up work plans for assigned work as directed.
Keep detailed records of own time and assist with performance monitoring and targeting to ensure the delivery of work to quality, time and budget.
Develop skills in planning, designing, preparing and producing documentation to support the promotion, use and maintenance of information systems.
Develop and maintain information systems skills and knowledge.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with organisational standards and procedures.
Assist customers with IS/IT needs at a wide variety of council sites.
To undertake the duties of the post in such a way as to enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of the council
Assist in the provision of support services relating to specific application systems to both customers and service delivery functions, including computer operations and service desk.
Assist in planning, designing, preparing and producing documentation to support the promotion, use and maintenance of information systems.
Motivate and manage any staff, that may be assigned to the post holder to ensure effective service delivery and to be responsible for reviewing and implementing a proper staff training and development programme.

Essential criteria
Qualifications and experience
Applicants must, as at the closing date:
have five GCSEs (Grades A-C) including English, or equivalent qualifications;
and either
have undertaken a training and development programme for candidates with 2 nd level qualifications, designed to prepare attendees for a career in ICT
or (a) be able to demonstrate by providing personal and specific examples, that they have at least one years relevant experience in information systems and technology.
General Information
There are currently 2 positions available within Cloud service and Server administration and Cyber security activity.
Cloud service and Server administration
This role involves hardware support, operating system support and administration of backup environment for servers hosted on and off premises.
Cyber security activity
This role involves hardware support, administration of security applications and systems including firewalls.

Information technology skills: the ability to operate a range of standard office IT programmes but understand how networking and telephony can increase business efficiency.
Technical knowledge: the ability to develop, implement and support IT solutions and to offer effective technical assistance.
Short-listing criteria
In addition to the above qualifications and experience, Belfast City Council reserves the right to short-list only those applicants who, as at the closing date
In the first instance, (b) can demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have at least one years relevant experience providing server system configuration or cyber security support to a range of stakeholders to ensure effective IT provision; and in the second instance, have a third level qualification in a relevant IT-related discipline.

Rate of Pay:£17.18 per hour plus accrued holiday pay
