Job Description

The Ryan Specialty Underwriting Internship Program is a hands on, immersive summer experience working within one of 6 designated underwriting teams in our London operation. Our program provides interns with meaningful exposure to the specialty insurance industry while developing professional skills through real world projects, networking opportunities, and mentorship.

The programme will start on Monday the 28th of June and will run for 8 weeks until Friday the 21st of August. Successful interns will be offered a permanent role within our business for the Summer of 2027 as part of our first graduate cohort.

Applications will close on Monday the 6th April, with final assessment centres taking place in the week of the 26th April.

What will your job entail?
  • Gain foundational knowledge of Ryan Specialty's business model, products, and services
  • Participate in hands on projects that contribute to your assigned team's goals

Duration
  • This is a full time, paid summer internship starting on Monday the 29th June for 8 weeks until Friday 21st August. You will be required to be available for the full duration.
What you'll be doing
  • Gain familiarity with reinsurance processes, systems and data.
  • Work effectively and efficiently to adhere to internal and external reporting deadlines.
  • Assist with liaising with brokers and internal stakeholders to support the post placement of reinsurance treaties.
  • Support administrative tasks including risk creations and managing reinsurance recoveries.
  • Greatly enhance your knowledge and use of Excel in a professional setting.
  • Assist with other work across the wider Finance team.
  • Liaise and communicate effectively across Finance and other departments.
  • Take part in structured training conducted by senior employees with an extensive amount of knowledge in the industry to ultimately help successful candidates learn the fundamentals of insurance.

  • Penultimate year university student working towards a degree (in any discipline but a law degree would be preferable), with a minimum 2:2 classification.
  • Proven eligibility to work in in the UK.
