As BioNTech's AI research organisation, InstaDeep is leading the AI revolution in biology with breakthroughs like the Nucleotide Transformer 1 , ProtBFN 2 , and InstaNovo 3 . In the RNA group we develop AI for BioNTech's core technology, the foundation of the first Covid vaccine 4 and the world's leading personalised cancer immunotherapy programme 5 .
As a Technical Program Manager you will facilitate and initiate projects at the frontier of AI, biochemistry, and medical research. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with world-leading experts in multiple domains, united by a common mission. You will directly influence the progress of pioneering treatments for the most serious diseases, from active trials to early stage research.
Role responsibilities
- The role includes aspects of project management, product management, and business development.
- Drawing support from across the company, ensure successful completion of ambitious initiatives at the forefront of AI and biochemistry.
- Take a pragmatic and hard working approach in supporting and unblocking colleagues.
- Organise information and establish practices to promote clarity and streamline work.
- Identify new opportunities. Coordinate and build momentum for their successful execution.
- Manage stakeholders, their expectations and satisfaction.
- Honestly and directly communicate business realities.
- Depending on your experience, ensure company focus is directed to the highest value opportunities.
- The role is likely to involve international travel several times a year.
Essential skills
- PhD or Master's degree in biology, medicine, AI, mathematics, or a related field.
- Exceptionally proactive, self-directed, and confident in self-learning as needed.
- Constant focus on outcome. Capable of keeping a strategic perspective while persistently addressing practicalities.
- Highly collaborative and personable. Able to create consensus and enthusiasm among stakeholders and participants.
- Highly effective at communicating with diverse audiences, both technical and non-technical, in writing and verbally. Ability to write quickly, clearly, and persuasively on complex topics.
- Experience organising and coordinating team projects.
- Organising and tracking deliverables, requirements, and tasks for teams.
- Identifying risks to successful outcomes in software projects.
- Effective at using modern software tools for all relevant skills.
- Academic or professional experience as a researcher, software engineer, research engineer, or similar.
- Project management of software or research teams.
- Identifying opportunities in biology, software, and artificial intelligence domains.
- Designing and specifying user interfaces and user interaction.
- Experience communicating to audiences at corporate leadership level.
- Ability to institute processes to enable self-management in teams.
- Experience in geographically distributed teams.
- Educational or professional background in biomedicine or machine learning.
