Role Overview

Successful candidates will join a state-of-the-art facility, supporting testing and research on the latest industry technologies and innovations. You will collaborate with infrastructure and cybersecurity professionals to ensure the UK's telecom infrastructure grows resiliently and securely, underpinning growth across sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain an enterprise architecture roadmap to maximize research and testing outputs.
  2. Simplify architecture while maintaining flexibility and investment efficiency.
  3. Present technology evolution plans, including business cases and benefits.
  4. Document current and future architectures with detailed designs.
  5. Manage infrastructure lifecycle, routine maintenance, and patching.
  6. Evaluate emerging technologies and develop business cases for their integration.
  7. Coach and develop infrastructure, networking, and telecom teams.
  8. Set clear objectives and performance goals for teams, addressing performance issues.
  9. Ensure security by design and maintain high security posture through processes and behaviors.
  10. Maintain Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans.
  11. Promote continuous improvement and communicate benefits to stakeholders.
  12. Liaise with NPL for synergies and shared services.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Broad understanding of enterprise architectures in high-security environments.
  • Knowledge of 4G, 5G, and fixed/mobile networks (desirable).
  • Systematic approach to architecture design, including "as is" and "to be" states.
  • Experience with virtualization, containerization, and IP network design.
  • Understanding of testing processes and quality assurance.
  • Experience in business planning and disaster recovery planning.
  • People management and coaching skills to foster high performance.
