Job Description

CULLY is currently recruiting for a Service Technical Lead to join our team of specialists. This full time, permanent, office and field based role, reports to the Service Manager, and oversees professional services both in-house and field based throughout the country. The client base is extensive and covers every key sector of the water, wastewater industry.

Job Responsibilities Daily Check-ins

Conduct regular daily check ins with Service Engineers and Apprentices to confirm:

  • Attendance and site allocation
  • Work progress and blockers
  • Health, safety, and welfare
  • Escalate resourcing, technical, or wellbeing issues promptly to the Service Delivery Lead or Line Manager where required.
1 to 1 Meetings
  • Hold structured 1 to 1 meetings with direct reports at an agreed frequency (Quarterly).
  • Document actions, development needs, and agreed objectives.
  • Track progress against previous actions and commitments.
Technical Leadership & Delivery
  • Provide hands on technical leadership to a team of Service Technicians supporting the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automation, E&I, and control systems.
  • Act as the technical authority for service works, ensuring solutions are safe, robust, and aligned with CULLY standards and best practice.
  • Assess works carried out and provide structured feedback to engineers to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all planned and reactive maintenance activities are executed in line with CULLY SOPs, quality, and safety expectations.
Performance Management
  • Monitor individual performance against agreed objectives, KPIs, and behavioural expectations.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback-both corrective and positive.
  • Identify underperformance early and support improvement plans in line with Company policy.
  • Contribute to formal performance reviews and appraisal cycles.
  • Lead, mentor, and support Service Technicians in day to day technical activities.
  • Mentor and supervise E&I Apprentices through both on the job and off the job training phases.
  • Identify skills gaps and training needs within the team and coordinate required training.
  • Conduct regular performance appraisals in line with company policy.
  • Participate in recruitment activities, including interviews and technical assessments, as required.
Service & Operational Coordination
  • Liaise closely with the Service Delivery Lead and Line Manager to support day to day planning, resourcing, and prioritisation.
  • Ensure the correct technical documentation, permits, method statements, and service records are prepared prior to execution of service jobs.
  • Support effective communication between field teams, service coordination, and management.
  • Monitor KPI's, Daily check ins
Commercial & Customer Interface
  • Support the Line manager / Commercial team in developing technical inputs and quotations for planned service works in line with customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Commercial Manager to identify and develop service led business opportunities.
  • Balance strong customer engagement with internal team leadership and technical governance.

Skills Required
  • Ideally qualified as electrical & instrumentation trade or electrician with proven instrumentation experience or experience in the water/wastewater industry is desirable.
  • Experience in leading a team, delivering feedback and on the job training as needed.
  • Excellent organisational skills and project management experience an advantage
  • Confidence in providing technical support in areas such as analytical telemetry equipment, flowmeters, radios, and data loggers
  • Ability to apply previous experience to niche and once off equipment
  • Ability to problem solve an issue and show initiative to find solution, developing those skills in others.
  • Demonstrate a positive approach to work, leading by example in this area.
