Primary Objectives

The role of the Technical Director, TMT, EMEA is to lead client and technical development in the TMT sector. The incumbent is responsible for supporting sales, client relations and technical development with an emphasis on MEP and particularly Electrical Engineering.

  • To assist in managing the MEP Service offering in the TMT sector in EMEA.
  • To further develop the HDR offering in the TMT sector, recognizing the changing need for sourcing energy, its storage and use, involving yourself in looking at new technologies and techniques and working with our ESD colleagues on energy modeling.
  • To operate in an efficient manner that mirrors our Corporate Structure In HDR.
  • To instil the Vision and Values of the company.
  • Coordinate and align the above with other TMT leads to ensure consistency of offering across all disciplines.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibility and authority will include and not be limited to:

  • Support of Pursuits and Sales in the TMT sector.
  • Clients / External Relationships.
  • Aid in the process of Recruitment and Redundancy.
  • Total Quality Assurance.
  • Be responsible for developing and/or reviewing technical concept solutions for TMT sector.
  • Liaise and support colleagues in the TMT sector in NA and APAC regions as requested by the market sector director.
  • Be responsible for supporting TMT staff during early development periods on projects.

General Duties

  • Structure training and succession of the teams to enhance performance and ensure future engineering expertise in Practice.
  • Support the Management Team in running the business and assist in QM and IIP execution.
  • Support the management of the business taking on duties as agreed with the market sector director.
  • Undertake engineering activities on an as-needed basis and where appropriate act as support to Project Directors and discipline leaders as required.
  • Ensure No Claims are made on Pl, ensure all technical documents are diligently checked in the MEP area.
  • Interview and recruit new team members.
  • Input and aid development of HDR/in-house technical documents and guides.
  • Carry out third party design audits as necessary.
  • Support to other directors in all fields including and not limited to; sales, resource control, problem solving, design advice.

Specialist Duties

  • Maintain register and carry out technical audits on projects as required.
  • Ensure IIP accreditation and Quality Management System ISO 9001 and 1401 are enforced, Ensure Health and Safety Policy and Industry Standards are adhered to and enforced.

  • Exceptional items.

  • Quality management/technical compliance.
  • Health & safety.
  • Future developments and focus.

Meeting Attendance Required

  • Management Board Meetings.
  • Business Planning Meetings and Conferences.
  • Business Development Meetings.
  • Group Leader Meetings/Resource Planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum 5 years project management experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • MS Office and MS Project experience (Access experience would be plus)
  • Demonstrated leadership, business development and strategic planning skills
