Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced, and enthusiastic Band 7 Biomedical Scientist with experience or a keen interest in Pathology IT to work within the Microbiology department, Salisbury District Hospital.
Responsibilities- Manage and be in technical charge of a section of the Microbiology service.
- Check all aspects of the quality of teamwork, detect problems and take remedial action as necessary.
- Manage daily staff rotas for Biomedical Scientists, trainee scientists, students and support staff.
- Efficiently manage the training and supervision of Biomedical Scientists, trainees and support staff, fostering continual learning.
- Lead the IT systems within the laboratory and manage the laboratory information service for own specialty.
- Ensure technical standards are maintained through internal and external QA schemes in accordance with ISO 15189:2022 and UKAS accreditation.
- Support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service.
- Participate in the provision of the out of hours service (weekends and bank holidays).
- Hold registration with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) as a Biomedical Scientist.
- BSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
- MSc in a relevant subject, Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Science (FIBMS), or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a UK Microbiology laboratory (preferred).
- Knowledge of UKAS and experience in a HCPC approved microbiology laboratory.
- Evidence of IT experience and knowledge of laboratory IT systems.
- Ability to train, mentor, and provide technical guidance.
- Competitive salary range of £49,387 to £56,515 per annum (pro rata if part time).
