Team Lead Physiotherapist - Neuro Outpatients

Band 7, Fixed term 12 months, Part time 25.5 hrs/week. Contract to cover maternity leave from April 2026. Job ref 481-JAN26.

Employer: University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.

Salary: £47,810 - £54,710 per annum pro rata.

Job Overview

Recruit an experienced Band 7 Physiotherapist to lead the Neuro Outpatient Physiotherapy service. Deliver high quality, patient centred care; supervise staff and develop services.

Main Duties
  • Operational management of the Neurological Outpatients team - planning, coordinating, evaluating daily service.
  • Provide clinical expertise, guidance and supervision to Band 6 staff, Band 4 technical instructor and students.
  • Develop and implement service improvement initiatives and clinical pathways, including FND care.
  • Advance communication skills with patients of complex needs; gain and record informed consent; maintain accurate documentation.
  • Represent the physiotherapy department in specialist and external working groups.
  • Manage rosters, staff allocation and workforce planning in line with trust policy.
  • Support recruitment and interview of new physiotherapy staff.
  • Ensure compliance with NHS clinical governance, risk management and quality standards.
Person Specification Professional Registration
  • Diploma in Physiotherapy or BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy or overseas equivalent.
  • Evidence of postgraduate management training.
Experience / Qualifications
  • Experience supervising less experienced staff and students.
  • Demonstrated Band 6 level experience within a neurological speciality.
Skills & Clinical
  • High level of clinical skill in neurological physiotherapy with ability to teach peers.
  • Leadership experience within a specialty team.
  • Autonomous practice and ability to coordinate with management.
